所以 macrophage/neutrophil會釋放 matrix metalloproteinases (包含 collagenases),來分解type 3 collagen, 之後主要變type 1 collagen, 所以collagenases (需要zinc 協助)負責Tissue remodeling

另外, 當tumor要invade basal membrane, 從CIS (carcinoma in situ)變成 invasive cancer, 要突破basement membrane, 也是用matrix metalloproteinases (包含 collagenases, hydroxylase),來分解basement membrane (跟ECM)

補充collagenase

Dysregulation of collagenase→destruction of the extracellular matrix (ECM) (e.g., in gas gangrene). 

可以用來治療Dupuytren contracture (手掌腱膜攣縮症),讓Tissue remodeling

可以用來治療 Peyronie disease(陰莖彎曲), 讓Tissue remodeling

collagenase也已用來promote wound healing.
